By Network SpecialistWiFi Connected But No Internet? 7 Quick Fixes
It's frustrating when your device says "Connected" but you can't open any websites. This usually means your device is talking to the router, but the router isn't talking to the internet.
Quick Checks
- Check Other Devices: Is your phone working on WiFi? If yes, the issue is your computer. If no, it's the router/modem.
- Restart Modem & Router: Unplug both for 30 seconds and plug them back in. Wait 2 minutes.
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Forget and Rejoin Network
Sometimes the saved settings get corrupted.
- Windows: Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > Manage known networks > Forget.
- Mac: System Preferences > Network > WiFi > Advanced > Remove network.
2. Flush DNS (Windows)
- Open Command Prompt as Admin.
- Type
ipconfig /flushdnsand hit Enter. - Type
ipconfig /renewand hit Enter.
3. Change DNS Servers
Your ISP's DNS might be down. Try Google's DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).
Still Stuck?
If these steps don't work, it might be a driver issue or a physical line fault. Contact your ISP or getting professional IT help.
